Classics 1001: A new Classics CRW Course in the Winter Semester!
This course is an introduction to the ways in which modern popular culture represents and understands the ancient Greek and Roman world. Emphasis is placed on learning and practising critical reading and writing skills, including the comprehension and analysis of primary sources and secondary literature, and effective academic composition.
Topics to be discussed include:
- television “history” documentaries
- ancient mythology for modern children
- “realistic” video games
- immorality and ancient sexuality in film
- comic book heroes
- cult science fiction
