Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism
The Office of the Vice-Provost, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-racism (EDI-AR) provides leadership to Memorial University to advance sustainable structural and systemic transformations across all campuses. As part of this work, the Vice-Provost offers strategic direction and builds strong relationships with senior administrative, academic and student leaders across Memorial and the broader community.
Working collaboratively to advance institutional EDI-AR goals, the office fosters diverse, inclusive and equitable learning and working environments, as well as a culture of respect, free from harassment, discrimination and violence.

Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that the lands on which Memorial University’s campuses are situated are in the traditional territories of diverse Indigenous groups, and we acknowledge with respect the diverse histories and cultures of the Beothuk, Mi’kmaq, Innu, and Inuit of this province.
Labour Acknowledgement
We acknowledge the labour theft extracted from people of African descent and used to build European wealth and economies globally and in the Canadian nation state—including Newfoundland and Labrador’s shipbuilding and cod fishery industries—through the violence of trans-Atlantic enslavement.
The portfolio of the Vice-Provost, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism (EDI-AR) is an important reflection of Memorial University's commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism across our campuses and in our communities.
This site informs Memorial University communities of our ongoing work, and shares relevant resources and information about EDI-AR at Memorial.
