The office of the Vice-Provost, EDI-AR has proudly hosted a variety of impactful events aimed at fostering inclusivity, celebrating diverse cultures, and promoting meaningful conversations on social justice. From engaging panel discussions with distinguished speakers to cultural celebrations, film screenings, and career development workshops, our events have provided spaces for learning, connection, and advocacy. African History and Liberation Month
Each February, the EDI-AR office hosts events to mark African History and Liberation Month. Event details for February 2026 will be updated here and in our event calendar as they are finalized.
Women’s Day
Throughout March, the EDI-AR office will host events focused on women's history and achievements. Event details will be added and updated here and in our event calendar as they are finalized.
Pride Month: Celebrating 2SLGBTQIA+
Throughout June, the EDI-AR office hosts events to mark Pride Month. Event details will be added and updated here and in our event calendar as they are finalized.
National Disability Employment Awareness Month
Throughout October, the EDI-AR office hosts events to mark Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM). Event details will be added and updated here and in our events calendar as they are finalized.
International EDI-AR Conference
The International EDI-AR Conference brings together students, staff, researchers, faculty, community leaders and industry professionals in the fields of equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism from around the globe. The event provides an opportunity for Memorial to advance its work and reputation in the EDI-AR space, and for students, researchers, professionals, and other leaders to learn from each other’s challenges and successes.
Annual Community Table Talk
Featuring a presentation, Q&A session, and informal reception, the Annual Community Table Talk fosters meaningful dialogue with the university community, providing updates on key initiatives and the vision for advancing equity and inclusion.
This hybrid event highlights the EDI-AR portfolio's progress and priorities as the vice-provost reflects on the previous year in that role. The fourth annual Community Table Talk took place on Thursday, September 23, 2025.
Quarterly Community Panels
Once each quarter, the EDI-AR office hosts panel discussions with representatives from various religious and spiritual communities at Memorial and across the province. These events provide a chance for these communities to share details about their upcoming celebrations and days of recognition, while also allowing Memorial's communities to learn from and connect with the many religious and spiritual groups on our campuses.
EDI-AR Lunch Hour
The EDI-AR team hosts informal lunch hours in IIC-3057 at the Bruneau Centre for Research and Innovation. This relaxed, drop-in session offers a chance to learn more about the EDI-AR team and the important work we do.
