MUNSU actions to combat spread of coronavirus

5 p.m.

MUNSU is taking several actions to combat the spread of coronavirus on campus and in its spaces.

We are following the decision of Memorial University to cancel all non-essential meetings and events with attendance of 25 or more people. We will also be suspending all space bookings at The Loft (UC-3013), the Loft Table, the 6th Floor Boardroom (UC-6011), and the MUNSU Council Chambers (UC-2001).

Members of the university community whose bookings have been cancelled are encouraged to rebook space after the ban is lifted. Booking requests received before the ban is lifted will not be considered, please refrain from emailing booking requests until after the ban is lifted.

Our services will be affected as follows:

  • SafeDrive will not be operating until further notice.
  • The Breezeway Bar will be closed until further notice including all bookings and scheduled events.
  • CHMR Radio access will be restricted to radio station staff only. Volunteers and guests will not be permitted in the station until further notice.
  • The Attic will remain open at this time but public computers will not be available and all printing files must be sent via email.
  • The Student Volunteer Bureau will be closed to the public until further notice. Some events will be moved online and the VIP program will be extended.

The MUNSU Office (UC-2000) will remain open with some changes. Face-to-face meetings will be limited. We ask that where possible students opt to email us at frontdesk@munsu.ca, and when entering the office please take precautions such as keeping distance between yourself and others.

All MUNSU spaces will be subject to more rigorous cleaning and disinfecting during this time.

MUNSU is actively involved in MUN’s Pandemic Planning Committees that have formed to coordinate steps to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Important information about university announcements will be shared via our social media channels. We appreciate your cooperation during this time. Please remain vigilant in your personal lives in limiting the spread of COVID-19.
