The following interim appointment updates were recently approved by the president and the Board of Regents. 

School of Music

Dr. Karen Bulmer has been appointed interim dean of the School of Music effective Dec. 15, 2023, until Dec.14, 2024 or upon completion of a successful search for a permanent dean, whichever occurs first.  

President Neil Bose has accepted the recommendation; the Board of Regents approved the appointment at its meeting on Dec. 7.

Dr. Bulmer has been acting dean of Music since June 2021 when then dean Dr. Ian Sutherland accepted the interim vice-president role at Grenfell Campus. Dr. Sutherland resigned as dean of Music effective October 31, 2023 to accept the appointment as vice-president, Grenfell Campus, leaving the permanent dean role in the School of Music vacant. 

The search for the permanent dean position will begin shortly with the establishment of a search committee.

School of Social Work

Dr. Sulaimon Giwa has been extended in the role of interim dean of the School of Social Work effective Jan. 1, 2024, until June 30, 2024, or upon completion of a successful search for a permanent dean, whichever occurs first.

The search for the permanent role is progressing well. Applications are currently being accepted and I expect that the search committee will begin reviewing submissions early in the new year, with interviews following shortly after. Further updates will be shared as they become available.
