Employment Equity and Diversity Advisory Committee membership
In late 2016, Dr. Noreen Golfman, provost and vice-president (academic), requested recommendations from the university community for the appointment of five employees to the new Employment Equity and Diversity Advisory Committee. Vice-Presidents Council has established the committee for the purpose of providing advice on matters relating to diversity, equity and inclusion in employment. The committee has been established with the following membership: Stephen Dodge, Human Resources (co-chair); Ian McKinnon, Faculty Relations (co-chair); Robert Barker, Human Resources; Tina Hickey, Human Resources; Bernard Doyle, Facilities Management; Jennifer Howell, Marine Institute; Catharyn Andersen, special advisor to the president on Aboriginal Affairs; Taylor Stocks, Harris Centre; Adedoyin Odukoya, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science; Caroline Koenig, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science; Keir McIsaac, Office of Student Recruitment; Patti Bryant, Faculty of Medicine; Vimala Raheja , Faculty of Business Administration; and Dr. Raymond Thomas, Environmental Science, Grenfell Campus.
The committee will focus on exploring issues around equity and diversity in employment and recommending appropriate strategies; sharing best practices for removing barriers to diversity, equity and inclusion; reviewing the University Employment Diversity and Equity Plan and recommending approval to VPC; reviewing status reports, at least annually, from the University Employment Diversity and Equity Plan and providing appropriate advice; monitoring and advising on the university's employment policies and program initiatives, with emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion; and assisting in the design of education, communication and promotional programs and materials related to diversity, equity and inclusion in employment.
