Collective bargaining update: Nov. 17, 2022
As previously reported, MUNFA applied for conciliation in June 2022 and the parties met with the assistance of the conciliator on Sept. 8, 9, Oct. 27, 28 and Nov. 9 and 10. MUNFA postponed conciliation scheduled for Nov.16 and 17. The next scheduled dates are Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
During the recent negotiations, the university submitted a monetary proposal to resolve all outstanding clauses. The university’s most recent offer is available here.
The university has proposed a six-year collective agreement with wage increases of two per cent each year, providing the same benefits as those received by other unionized employees at the university over this period. This is in line with the funding allocated from the provincial government. A change to group insurance benefits for newly hired employees is proposed, which is similar to changes previously adopted by NAPE and CUPE bargaining units.
The university is strongly committed to negotiating a renewed collective agreement that is acceptable to both parties.
