The search committee for the role of dean of the Faculty of Medicine has shortlisted four candidates for the position. Each candidate will give a public presentation to the university community as part of the interview process, which will take place during the month of May. All presentations will take place in person with an option to participate virtually. Candidate names, CVs, dates, times and locations for presentations, and information for virtual participation is available in Brightspace. MUN login credentials are needed to access the Brightspace page titled Search for the Dean of Medicine here.
As part of the search process, each candidate will have a formal interview, offer a public presentation, and hold meetings with faculty, staff, students and others. Following these visits, the search committee will seek input on the candidates’ suitability for the role via a Qualtrics feedback form. To accommodate individuals who would like to participate in the process but cannot attend the presentations either in person or virtually at the scheduled times, recordings will be made available after all campus visits and presentations are complete. As part of the search process for the next dean of Memorial’s Faculty of Medicine, the search committee is engaging in consultations to gather feedback from the university community and others on the opportunities, challenges, priorities and profile for the faculty and next dean. Those interested in providing input can complete the Qualtrics survey available here. Search update
Sept. 20, 2024
The search committee for the role of dean of the Faculty of Medicine is making progress with its work.
The search committee will be supported by an external search firm. A tender was issued for the work and Perrett Laver has been selected. Memorial’s senior leadership recruitment team is also looking forward to working collaboratively with the search committee and search firm throughout applicable elements of this search.
Work has begun to develop a consultation process to gather feedback from the university community and other interested parties on the opportunities, challenges and priorities for the Faculty of Medicine, as well as the profile for the next dean. The committee will meet with the external search consultant within the next few weeks to continue this work.
Dr. Dolores McKeen is continuing as interim dean of the Faculty of Medicine until July 31, 2025, or upon completion of a successful search, whichever occurs first. Her appointment extension was approved by the Board of Regents this summer.
In accordance with the Procedures Governing the Appointment, Review, Promotion and Tenure of Academic Administrators, a search committee has been established for the role of dean of the Faculty of Medicine.
