Campus Changemakers act as student ambassadors at Memorial University’s Centre for Social Enterprise. They are creative thinkers and passionate doers. They don’t settle for the status quo but try to make a difference in their communities. The CSE was created to be different by using social enterprise and social innovation as tools to elevate people and places to new heights of health, happiness and prosperity. We want you to be part of our community! 

Why should you become a Campus Changemaker? 

• Drive positive change in the community. We nurture social entrepreneurs, strengthen social enterprises and drive social innovation. Becoming a Campus Changemaker immerses you in a movement to create positive change in Newfoundland and Labrador. 

• Strengthen your skills. Practice career-ready skills such as leadership and communication skills, event planning, marketing and more.  

• Gain exposure to the social enterprise ecosystem! Meet community leaders through CSE programs and events. You will have the chance to participate in events and gain fresh knowledge about social enterprise and social innovation.  

Who is eligible? 

Any current undergraduate or graduate student at St. John’s campus. 

You don’t need to be an expert in social enterprise or social innovation. We’re looking for students who are passionate about making a positive impact on their communities! 

An ideal Campus Changemaker shall be punctual, responsible, proactive and creative. 

What to expect? 

Time commitment: Up to 21 hours in the Fall semester, including: 

• a 1-hour orientation to learn about social enterprise and social innovation;  

• up to 20 hours of volunteering services at Centre for Social Enterprise; and  

• reflection exercises. 

• lots of learning opportunities through volunteering opportunities. 

Recognition 
Students who have demonstrated satisfactory performance as Campus Changemakers will: 

• Receive a certificate of achievement; 

• Attend a special event with other social enterprises; 

• Be eligible for the bronze level in the Student Volunteer Bureau’s Volunteer Incentive Program (additional requirements may be necessary); 

• Track the experiential learning on Memorial’s Online Record of Experience (MORE) (optional).
