Bio: Nicole Whalen is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Memorial University. She previously worked at the University of Chicago as a Harper-Schmidt Fellow and a Collegiate Assistant Professor in the Social Sciences. Her primary research is in the areas of political philosophy, the history of philosophy, and environmental philosophy. She has published articles on the political economic thought of Kant, Adam Smith, and Richard Price. Her current research examines the benefits of common property institutions (i.e., "the commons") to economic and environmental justice.
