The Bachelor of Science (Pharmacy) program is no longer available for admission.

Admission to the entry-to-practice Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree will commence in Fall 2017.

Academic Requirements (Pre-requisite Courses)

The Bachelor of Science (Pharmacy) program is not direct-entry from high school. Students must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours which include the following courses at Memorial University or their equivalency from another institution:

• Biology 1001 and 1002

• Chemistry 1050 and 1051 or equivalent

• English – Any six credit hours at the 1000 level

• Mathematics 1000 and 1001

• Physics 1020 or 1050 and Physics 1021 or 1051

For students who have completed courses outside of Memorial University and would like information about potential transfer credits, please contact the Registrar's Office at this link. You must provide the following information:

• Name of the post-secondary institution
• Course name(s)
• Course number(s)
• Course title(s)

If the information is available in the Registrar's database, it will be made available to you. If not, your application will proceed through the normal channels at which time courses will be assessed for transfer credit. 

It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the pre-requisite courses meet the requirements for admission to the pharmacy program.

Academic scores are calculated for each applicant and ranked from highest to lowest for two pools of applicants: 1. Residents of Newfoundland & Labrador; 2. Non-residents of Newfoundland & Labrador.  96 applicants are invited to a face to face interview. Applicants with an academic score of less than 70% are not eligible to advance to the interview stage.

After the Interview -Admission scores are calculated for each applicant and ranked from highest to lowest in both pools of applicants. The Admission Score is calculated using the following formula:

• Academic Score =65% of the Admission Score
• Interview score =35% of the Admission Score

The top 40 Admission Scores are offered admission with a minimum of 75% of the offers (30 seats) going to applicants in the Newfoundland & Labrador pool.
