What should I expect for my clinic appointment?
You will be asked to complete some forms on your first visit, which give your consent for us to provide the consultation and some necessary information for us to complete our assessment. Your first appointment will take about one hour, and you will meet with our pharmacist in a private room, similar to a doctor’s office, where you will discuss your medications, your health goals and any problems you are having with your medications. Sometimes a pharmacy student will also meet with you as we welcome student learners in our clinic, to help them develop the skills needed to perform this type of service after they graduate, but they always practice under the supervision of one of our licensed clinic pharmacists.
After your visit, the pharmacist will review the information and come up with a plan. They will call you in about a week to discuss their recommendations before sending a letter with the plan and recommendations to your doctor. The pharmacist may meet with you again or follow up with you by phone to support you in making any medication changes and see how you are doing.
