Research and Publications
MMaP engages in a wide range of ethnomusicological research projects. Our “Back on Track” Audio Publication Series makes one-of-a-kind collections of archival recordings and new music available to the public, with CDs, websites, and other media that showcase the diverse musics of Newfoundland and Labrador and the surrounding region. MMaP is also a centre for research on the theoretical foundations of ethnomusicology and allied disciplines. Our journal, Music Research Annual, is the first peer-reviewed, open-access publication devoted to critical review essays on key topics from the full range of academic disciplines that study music. We support a wide range of research projects conducted by scholars associated with the centre and host academic conferences and other live events. MMaP is a founding member of the Cultures of Sound network.
