Graduate Programs in Ethnomusicology
Memorial University offers MA and PhD programs in ethnomusicology for individuals who are interested in researching music as a cultural practice. Courses in the programs examine a variety of musical traditions, explore key issues in contemporary theory and method, and develop skills useful to students interested in both academic and applied ethnomusicology. Graduate study in ethnomusicology at Memorial is interdisciplinary, with courses offered through both the School of Music and the Department of Folklore.
MMaP houses the graduate programs and enriches the student experience through its many live events (including conferences, a performance series, a lecture series, and a scholar-in-residence series), opportunities to work on Centre research projects, and the use of its facilities (including a library and MMaP’s Ethnographic Video and Sound Lab). You can find more about Memorial’s ethnomusicology programs here. A link to the application website can be found on this page.
