Harris Centre
Earlier this year, the Board of Regents approved a $468.6 million operating budget for 2025-2026 (excluding Faculty of Medicine) that includes a base expenditure cut of $20.85 million. Achieving this significant and necessary reduction in expenses to align spending with revenue necessitates difficult decisions to ensure the long-term sustainability of our university. Some of those decisions have now been actioned.
One of them, as approved by the Board of Regents, is to end the operating budgets for the Harris Centre and the Office of Public Engagement. Grant-funded projects and the people in those externally funded positions will continue their work, which includes the Regional Analytics Lab and work related to UArctic and the GALI funding program for research, education and outreach.
