The LA-ICP-MS lab contains two ICP-MS: a Thermo-Finnigan Element XR ICP-MS and a Thermo-Finnigan Neptune Multicollector ICP-MS. The Element is used for trace elements and geochronology while the Neptune is used for isotope ratio analyses. The laser used with the ICP-MS is a Coherent GeoLas laser ablation system operating at the 193 nm wavelength.

Given the unique nature of every project, sample preparation and the feasibility of analyses should be discussed with a coordinator prior to sample submission.
