Enrichment
Welcome to Junior Enrichment! Below is a sample schedule of activities planned for the two-day junior enrichment offered annually by the Department of Chemistry to junior high students in the eastern school district. Social media such as Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram, are used during this program as a tool to engage students in chemistry. All participants are expected to complete and submit a media-release form which you can find here. A picture slideshow and enrichment videos (recorded from previous years) are provided below which reflect the student experience and activities over the length of the two-day enrichment program.

Notes: (1) Social Media: A closed Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram group called munchemenrich has been created for the chemistry enrichment program. The chosen media platform will be decided by the staff prior to the start of enrichment for any given year. For those students interested in tweeting, snapping, or posting on instagram at our group over the next few days, please be sure to follow us first! We encourage all participants to tweet, snap, or post on instagram at our group any pictures and comments of the things they find interesting while on campus or in the lab. Parents are encouraged to join in on the action as well! (2) Wi-Fi Access: We have arranged for a free wireless account for students over the course of enrichment. Information regarding this account can be found inside the enrichment booklets distributed to students. (3) Safety: Students must wear their lab coat and goggles at all times when in the lab. Students should take note of the location of the eye wash station and the safety shower. No food or drink is permitted in the lab. (4) YouTube Videos: QR codes and snapcodes have been created which link to instructional videos the department has created for enrichment. These videos are unlisted private YouTube videos which are only accessible using these codes.
