Annual Leave Procedure
Procedure
(Including Permanent Sessional Employee Leave options)
Application for annual leave:
Annual leave must be requested by completing a Reason for Absence Form or Leave Request Form (Marine Institute). Employees submit completed request forms to their Supervisor for approval. If approved, the Supervisor will inform the Employee that the leave will be granted and will ensure that the information is submitted to the individual within their Unit who is responsible for keying leave on a bi-weekly basis.
Annual Leave Options for Permanent Sessional Employees:
Upon hire, Permanent Sessional Employees may be provided with two options regarding annual leave:
- To accrue annual leave and to carry over any unused annual leave up to specified limits, at the end of the period of employment to the next period of employment.
- To accrue annual leave during the period of sessional appointment and receive payment for any unused annual leave, at the end of each period of sessional employment.
Permanent Sessional Employees are to complete a Permanent Sessional Employee Annual Leave Option Form upon hire.
