Welcome

Welcome to the Memorial University Botanical Garden!

Located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Memorial University Botanical Garden is the province's premier botanical garden. Our 110 acre property offers 3.5km of nature trails, a large cultivated garden area with multiple themed gardens, a public greenhouse and an alpine house, special events, workshops, public art, camps, and so much more. And that is only the public-facing Garden!

Our natural areas, including a number of different ecosystems (fen, bog, boreal forest. pond, barrens) are an excellent resource for researchers, and we are pleased to welcome many research projects each year. As well, we see many students come to the Garden with their professors for some hands-on learning during their university coursework.

The Botanical Garden is open seasonally, May-November. December sees the Garden transformed into a magical display of a different kind - our Merry & Bright Holiday Light Festival. Keep an eye on our events calendar or sign up for our monthly newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest happenings. (You can access both from the lefthand sidebar!)

We are excited to welcome you back to the Garden for the 2024 season, and we have lots of great things in store! Unfortunately, due to upgrades required to our septic system and well, we are unable to open as planned on May 1. Please stay tuned! We will announce our new opening date as soon as we are able.
