MUN Global Medical Brigades

This listing is active until September 30th, 2024.

Global Brigades is an international movement of student and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. We work in under-resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Guatemala, Ghana, Belize, and Greece who would otherwise have limited to no access to health care. We provide students the ability to observe and participate in medical care at our rural mobile clinics.

Volunteer Activities/Duties: Fundraise money and supplies to attend an annual medical brigade (7-9 day trip) to support the community with a sustainable in-country medical clinic. During the brigade volunteers have the opportunity to shadow medical care professionals, and take part in stations of medical triage, medical consult, optometry, dentistry, pharmacy, charla, and data informatics. Alongside participating in the stations, volunteers engage with local community members, children, and the language and culture.

Commitment: We host biweekly meetings where we focus on planning the brigade, learning about the program country, and preparing fundraisers/events to fundraise and gain hygiene item donations. Once closer to the brigade, meetings are weekly.

Requirements: No experience necessary! Anyone can volunteer - any student, professional or retiree! You do NOT need to be in the medical field or be a MUN student.

Registration: Join the facebook volunteer group and/or email, message one of our social media platforms!
