6.3 Admission/Readmission Regulations for Programs Offered by the School of Fine Arts
An applicant may apply for admission into programs offered by the School of Fine Arts directly from high school. Applicants who are new to Grenfell Campus should follow the application instructions at www.mun.ca/undergrad/apply. A complete application includes a general admission application to the University (for those who have not attended Memorial University in the three preceding semesters) and any other required supporting documentation. The deadline for submission of applications to the Bachelor of Fine Arts undergraduate programs is February 1st of the year in which entry is sought.
6.3.1 Bachelor of Fine Arts (Theatre)

Applicants must meet the general admission requirements of the University as outlined under University Regulations (Undergraduate).

In addition to meeting the general admission requirements of the University, applicants for the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Theatre) must undergo an audition/interview to the satisfaction of the School. Enrollment in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Theatre) is limited and selection is competitive.

The deadline to apply for Theatre is February 1st of the year in which admission is sought.

Transfer credit cannot be awarded for the following courses: Theatre 4001, 4010, 4020, 4060, 4070, 4080, 4090.
6.3.1.1 Articulation Agreements for Bachelor of Fine Arts (Theatre)

Applicants who have graduated from the two-year Digital Filmmaking Diploma program offered by the College of the North Atlantic, or who are in the final semester of that program, can apply for entry into the third year of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Theatre), Technical Theatre Production program offered by Grenfell Campus.

Applicants who have graduated from the two-year Theatre Performance program offered by Holland College, or who are in the final semester of that program, can apply for entry into the third year of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Theatre), Acting offered by Grenfell Campus.
6.3.2 Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts)

In addition to meeting the general admission requirements of the University, as outlined under University Regulations (Undergraduate), all applicants will be required to submit a portfolio of previous art work. Applicants must apply before February 1st of the year in which entry is sought. Although it is assumed that applicants will have had no previous formal training in art, evidence of suitability for study in the visual arts is required. Instructions for the submission of portfolios will be provided by the School of Fine Arts upon request. Enrollment in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts) program is limited and selection is competitive.

Students who have voluntarily withdrawn from the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts) program and wish to re-enter must re-apply by February 1st for the upcoming Fall semester, or by August 30th for the upcoming Winter semester.

Students who have been required to withdraw from the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts) program and wish to re-enter must re-apply in competition after a lapse of two semesters by February 1st for the upcoming academic year.

Students who have been required to withdraw twice from the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts) program shall be ineligible for further admission to the Visual Arts Program.

Transfer credit cannot be awarded for the following courses: Visual Arts 4800, 4801, 4950, 4951.
6.3.3 Minor in Theatre (Acting) or Theatre (Technical Theatre Production)

Applicants who are completing a non-Theatre degree program that provides for the completion of a minor may complete a minor in either Theatre (Acting) or Theatre (Technical Theatre Production).

Application is made in the space provided on the Declaration/Change Academic Program (Grenfell Campus) which must then be approved by the Dean of the School of Fine Arts or delegate. The form may be obtained in person at the Office of the Registrar or online.

Applicants who wish to undertake either Theatre minor program must have successfully completed a minimum of 27 credit hours.

Admission into these minor programs is selective. At the time of application, an applicant must have a cumulative average of at least 65%. An audition is required for the Acting stream and an interview is required for the Technical Theatre Production stream.
