The associate vice-president (academic) and dean of students reports to the provost and vice-president (academic).

The Office of the Associate Vice-President (Academic) and Dean of Students oversees the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre (SWCC), Student Life (SL) and Student Residences and Ancillary Operations (SRAO).

There is also a collaborative link with the deans of the eleven faculties and schools on the St. John’s campus, the deans of the three schools at Grenfell Campus, the associate vice-president (Marine Institute) academic and student affairs, and the associate vice-president (academic) and dean of the School of Graduate Studies.
