Admissions
Admission is open to all Memorial students completing a program leading to the awarding of a BA degree. Previous completed university courses may be recognized for transfer credit. Previous specialized police training may also be approved for unspecified credits which may be applied to the elective requirements.
As of September 2014, students who major in Criminology shall complete a minimum of 36 credit hours in courses selected from Table 1: Core Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Courses for the Major in Criminology and Table 2: Other Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Courses for the Major in Criminology below as follows:

Courses from a minimum of any three Arts disciplines, and no more than 15 credit hours in any one Humanities and Social Sciences discipline other than Criminology;

A minimum of 15 credit hours in Criminology courses, including
- PLST 2000
- at least one of 3000 or 3500
- at least one of 4000 or 4001

A minimum of 9 additional credit hours chosen from Table 1: Core Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Courses for the Major in Criminology. Sociology 3040 and 3041 are recommended choices; and

A minimum of 12 additional credit hours selected from Table 1: Core Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Courses for the Major in Criminology and/or Table 2: Other Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Courses for the Major in Criminology including at least one further 4000-level course

The normal departmental prerequisites are applicable, but Department Heads may waive course prerequisites in cases where alternate preparation can be demonstrated. For further information on the Criminology Program consult the MUN Academic Calendar.
