Amanda Guay
Amanda Guay is a registered social worker based in Montreal, Quebec. She holds a BSW and MSW from McGill University, and a BA in Psychology from Concordia University. Her professional experience includes work in the areas of disability, family crisis, and mental health across public services and post-secondary education settings. She has taught social work courses on disability, practicum skills, and has served as a field liaison to support students and supervisors during placements. She also directly supervises social work students in field placements.
Her research interests focus on disability, accessibility, and equity in post-secondary education, including accommodations, institutional ableism, and inclusive pedagogical practices. Under the supervision of Dr. Ami Goulden, her doctoral research examines disability in post-secondary education from both student and instructor perspectives. Her doctoral studies are funded by a scholarship from the Fonds de Recherche du Québec. She is also a research assistant with the CARES Lab.
Outside of her academic and professional work, she is a mother of two and an active volunteer with Girl Guides of Canada, where she organizes camps and activities for youth members and facilitates training for adult volunteers on mental health, neurodiversity, and inclusive practices. Across both her professional and personal life, she is committed to equity, accessibility, and social justice.
