Dr. Sobia Shaikh receives SSHRC grant for Intersectionalities journal
Congratulations to assistant professor Dr. Sobia Shaikh on receiving $53,250 from SSHRC’s Aid to Scholarly Journals grants for the School of Social Work’s scholarly journal – Intersectionalities: A Global Journal of Social Work Analysis, Research, Polity, and Practice.
Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) is the federal research funding agency that promotes and supports research and training in the humanities and social sciences.
Established in 2012, the journal has made a significant impact on the field of critical and intersectional social work. Intersectionalities is known for its cutting-edge scholarship in critical social work amongst schools of social work across Canada, the US and the UK.
Dr. Shaikh says they are looking forward to expanding the capacity and reach of the journal and the funding means that Intersectionalities can continue to publish high quality, innovative and ground-breaking critical scholarship.
The award was announced recently in the Gazette article Interdisciplinary perspectives.
