Appointment of interim dean
Dr. Heather Hair has been appointed interim dean of the School of Social Work effective July 13, 2020, to May 16, 2021, or until a permanent dean is appointed, whichever occurs first.
The Board of Regents approved the appointment on July 9. Following collegial consultation with faculty members in the School of Social Work, Dr. Mark Abrahams, provost and vice-president (academic), pro tempore, recommended the appointment which was accepted by the president.
Since her arrival to Memorial’s School of Social Work in 2008, Dr. Hair has contributed to the teaching and learning and scholarly activity of the School. She has served as associate dean (undergraduate) for the past five years.
Dr. Abrahams thanked Dr. Hair for stepping into this important academic leadership role, and said he was confident that her experience and leadership will serve the unit well during this time of transition.
Details on the search for a permanent dean will be shared as they become available.
