Come on up! Memorial invites the public to visit Signal Hill Campus
There’s a celebration happening on Signal Hill!
Memorial University is excited to open the doors of its new Signal Hill Campus to the public on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 2 – 5 p.m.
Drop in to explore the new facility anytime throughout the event. There will be self-guided tours through the Emera Innovation Exchange, plenty of hands-on exhibits, and even some celebratory ice cream.
This is a free, all-ages event. Our exhibits include a geology and fossil display by the GEOcentre, activities courtesy of Let's Talk Science, and more.
There will also be a salute to the late entrepreneur and community philanthropist Paul J. Johnson, taking place at 2:00 pm. An art unveiling in partnership with Business and the Arts, Newfoundland and Labrador, will happen at 3:00 p.m.
The Signal Hill Campus of Memorial University, located at the site of the former Battery Hotel in St. John’s, is an iconic location dedicated to help address 21st century issues by connecting the expertise and ideas of Memorial University students, faculty, staff and retirees, with the people and organizations of Newfoundland and Labrador. With an initial focus on public engagement and innovation, the tenants, programming and partnerships there will use state-of-the-art meeting facilities and leading-edge connective technology to encourage participation from across the province and beyond.
There is limited parking on-site, with more available at the Johnson GEOcentre, and the Parks Canada Signal Hill Visitor Centre.
