The Journey Project

In January 2018, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced that they would be partnering with The Journey Project Team to offer free legal support services to individuals in our province who have experienced sexual violence. The Journey Project, a collaboration between Public Legal Information Association of NL (PLIAN) and the Newfoundland and Labrador Sexual Assault Crisis and Prevention Centre (NLSACPC), will provide supports, including up to four hours of free legal advice, to individuals who have experienced sexual violence.

Sarah McHugh-Wade (former Project Coordinator, PLIAN) and Janet Lee (former Program Coordinator, NLSACPC) comprise the team of Legal Support Navigators who will assess and work with an individual’s particular needs and experiences. The Legal Support Navigation Team will assist in providing general legal information, supportive community referrals, and trauma-informed responses to help those who have experienced sexual violence navigate barriers, both within and outside of the legal system.

The Journey Project Sexual Violence Legal Support Service is set to launch on June 19th. For more information or support, call 1-833-722-2805 or email support@journeyprojectnl.com.
