Consent Clothes Line held by Sexual Harassment Office
Sexual Violence Awareness Week in Newfoundland and Labrador is Sept. 10 - 16, 2017. Throughout the year and during this week in particular, the Newfoundland and Labrador Sexual Assault Crisis and Prevention Centre, in collaboration with various community partners, plans and organizes initiatives to help raise awareness and education about sexual violence and prevention.
Memorial’s Sexual Harassment Office, in recognition of Sexual Violence Awareness Week, held a Consent Clothes Line event on Wednesday, Sept.13 where students, faculty and staff were invited to design their own consent message inspired t-shirts for display on a clothes line that was set-up on the third floor of the University Centre. In designing their t-shirts, people were asked to come up with messages that would help raise awareness about consent and our shared responsibility of the issue of sexual harassment and sexual assault.
The Consent Clothes Line event had a fantastic turn out with a number of members of the Memorial University community creating t-shirts with consent messages.
