Establishing long lasting relationships is at the heart of successful public engagement. These resources are aimed at establishing connections between Memorial University and the public, bridging the gap between researchers, staff, students, and partner organizations within the province and in Canada.
This list of resources is a living document that we hope to keep udating over the years. Blue Justice Alert, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
Blue Justice Alert: An Interactive Platform for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries’ is build on the notion that SSF communities must be able to communicate the urgency of their concerns for timely, appropriate intervention and Innovation in information sharing is required, along with active participation of actors from different backgrounds and disciplines in co-creating solutions to address governance challenges.
Centre for Social Enterprise (CSE), Faculty of Business Administration
The CSE is a catalyst, one which adds value to the entrepreneurial ecosystem through activities and programs that support the local social enterprise sector. We are pleased to offer social enterprises and entrepreneurs subsidies to hire Memorial students in our Work Experience in Social Enterprise program for part-time or full-time work. We also offer mentoring, events, a global network and connections to other resources at Memorial.
CSE Place Dialogues, Faculty of Business Administration
The event connects community leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers and academics to discuss challenges and opportunities for rural development while building a cross-sector network.
CSE Social Ventures Incubator, Faculty of Business Administration
Our aim is to support ventures whose objective is positive social impact. They must have a strong social mission at the core of what they do and they must make a commitment to demonstrate their social impact.
City-engaged Learning, Grenfell Campus
Grenfell Campus applies experiential learning techniques all the while creating opportunities for collaboration with the City of Corner Brook. Topics for each partnered courses are set in collaboration with the City of Corner Brook. Courses offered through this partnership are offered at the undergraduate and graduate level and include courses in geography, environmental sustainability, and chemistry.
Engage & Connect Portal, NLCAHR (NL Centre for Applied Health Research), Faculty of Medicine
Designed in collaboration with the Research Exchange Group on Service Leaning/Community Engagement as a follow-up to a workshop in which community and university partners expressed the need for an online tool that would make it easier to connect: community, health system and government partners with departments and supportive resources at Memorial University; Memorial University faculty and students with community, health system, and government partners; students to service learning opportunities in the community.
Research Innovation Office (RIO), pan-university
Memorial's Research Innovation Office (RIO), formerly the Technology Transfer and Innovation Office, supports industrial liaison, technology transfer, and commercialization activities at Memorial University. We help identify resources and facilitate connections to move ideas towards commercialization.
Sustainable Rural Communities Initiative (SRCI), Grenfell Office of Engagement
The Sustainable Rural Communities Initiative (SRCI) was created to foster collaborative and productive relationships between Memorial University and diverse organizations and partners in rural communities.
