In partnership, Memorial University, College of the North Atlantic and
NunatuKavut Community Council implemented a pilot Aboriginal Ambassador Project this past September in three Southern Inuit communities in coastal Labrador.
The goal of the project was to introduce engineering and engineering technology programs as a possible career opportunity for Southern Inuit/Metis youth in Southern Labrador (in a way that is both culturally relevant and that would resonate with the students and their home communities).
Visiting Ambassadors also served as role models to
students during their visit. In doing so, Ambassadors had the
opportunity to discuss their university experiences as well as the
significance of their culture. The interaction between students and
ambassadors proved to be both exciting and rewarding for all who
participated.
