ENGAGE MEMORIAL WEEK 2014, Call for Ideas
We're seeking ideas for Engage Memorial 2014!
Engage Memorial is a week of learning about, and celebration of, public engagement collaborations between the Memorial University community and the broader community. Memorial’s Office of Public Engagement is working with individuals and groups throughout the university to plan a week of exciting and informative events; we’re requesting expressions of interest from departments, units and groups who wish to lead an Engage Memorial activity.
Please find out more below, then complete your application here.
When is it?
February 10-14 2014
Where?
We are looking for participation from all campuses and from Memorial entities throughout the province. Proposed events/activities can take place on or off campus.
How can we participate?
There are several ways that you can engage:
- You can propose an idea for a public activity or event that highlights your collaboration with a public partner or showcases the public engagement programs or projects of your unit or group. Examples: a café scientifique, workshop, public forum, performance event, etc.
- You can propose an internal information sharing or professional development session for your faculty, department or unit.
- You can contribute a booth, demo or performance to a half-day Engage Memorial Fest in St. John’s on February 12th.
What support is offered?
The Engage Memorial Planning team will coordinate activities to avoid overlap and ensure the broadest possible participation. We’ll also spread the word about your event through the Engage Memorial posters, website and other means.
Some guidelines for your proposals:
Activities must reflect the definition and values of Public Engagement as outlined in Memorial’s Public Engagement Framework. Activities should involve a public partner in the content or in the execution of the activity.
How do we submit our expression of interest?
Complete our brief online form by November 5th 2013. We’ll reply to your submission by November 19th.
