Joined at the Hip: Memorial University and the Story of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador
Almost immediately after confederation with Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador’s first provincial government elevated Memorial University College into Memorial University, a new higher education institution for a brand-new province.
Since then, the two have been inextricably linked, responding to challenges, and collaborating to create opportunities across the province. There have been highs, lows, and everything in between, but the close relationship between the two has remained.
Join us as we gather a group of interesting folks for quick, focused discussions about how collaboration between Memorial and this province has affected a range of aspects of this place, including education, culture, regional and economic development, and health.
The transcript from this session will form the basis for an article in an upcoming special issue of the Journal of Newfoundland and Labrador Studies, focused on Public Engagement at Memorial University.
This session will be hosted by Dr. Vicki Hallett. The full list of panelists will be released closer to the event.
