Industrial Training Program (MI)
Notes*: Industrial Response Training includes those short courses and programs delivered by Marine Institute schools and specialized training and research units throughout the province and Canada including the Offshore Safety and Survival Centre and the Community Based Education unit. Highlights
The university's operating budget funds the operations of the university,
including the Grenfell and Fisheries & Marine Institute campuses.
A grant is also provided to Harlow Campus in Essex, England.
The university's unconsolidated operating fund expenditures for fiscal year 2016
were $446.112 million (excluding employee future benefits).
Student fees comprised 14 per cent of total operating fund revenue.
The provincial government operating grant decreased 8.0 per cent over
fiscal year 2015. The decrease related to government cutbacks related to
deferred maintenance and the special pension payment deferral.
79 per cent of expenditures in the operating fund (excluding Other Expenditures)
have been spent in the Academic, Library and Student Services functional areas.
Library holdings of $4.1 million have been capitalized in fiscal year 2016.
The university provided $5.1 million in undergraduate and graduate scholarships,
bursaries, and other awards from our endowed and non-endowed trust funds.
