Bio

Dr. Jean-Michel Montsion is Associate Professor in the Canadian Studies program at Glendon College and Director of the Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies at York University. He is also Adjunct Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Dr. Montsion is a specialist of community politics in gateway cities – cities that partly define themselves through the international mobility of goods, people and ideas – in both Canada and Southeast Asia. His current projects include the relationship between urban democracy and federal investments in transportation infrastructure projects in Canada, Cantonese language and cultural preservation projects in Vancouver and Singapore, and student migration to Canada.
