Exciting Postdoctoral Opportunity Available
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow position to support research on Elected Representative Behaviour at Memorial University of Newfoundland & Labrador.
Research on Representative Behaviour has grown and diversified. The Principle and Co-Investigators (Dr. Kelly Blidook and Dr. Royce Koop) have employed various methods in conducting research in this area, however this program is focused upon using observational and interview data collection methods (though it may be complemented by other methods). We are seeking a bilingual (French & English) researcher who is interested in conducting observational and interview data collection with Canadian Members of Parliament in order to further develop understandings and explanations of representative behaviour.
Responsibilities:
- Support research program on Elected Representative Behaviour.
- Reside in Ottawa and collect observational & interview data with Canadian Members of Parliament.
- Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed publications.
- Present at national or international conferences during the course of the fellowship.
- Organize/produce additional knowledge mobilization outputs.
The successful applicant will have completed all requirements for a doctorate in Political Science (related fields may be considered) and have excellent oral and written communication skills in both English & French.
Gaps in career history/research history can exist for any number of reasons (i.e., family responsibilities, sick leave, non-academic employment, etc.) and candidates are invited to discuss these gaps and their impacts on their work in their application.
Annual Salary: CAD $70,000/year plus benefits and travel funds.
Start Date: The fellowship is for one year commencing February 2025, or as soon as possible, with a possibility for an additional year pending satisfactory performance.
Location: While Memorial University and the Principle Investigator are located in St. John’s, NL, the Postdoctoral Research position will require a primary residence in Ottawa, ON.
