Undergraduate students, graduate students, and members of the Memorial University community are invited to the first event in  the Department of Political Science's Fall seminar series. Dr. Luke Ashworth (MUN) will present "Inventing the Torment Nexus: Techbros, Science Fiction, and the Ideologies of Silicon Valley". 

In his presentation, Dr. Ashworth will investigate the goals and political ideologies shaping Silicon Valley and how they are deeply rooted in the long twentieth century mythos of science fiction. To understand the world views of the tech companies and their managers, it is therefore important to understand how they resphape science fiction for their own purposes.
