Democratizing the Classroom with Dr. Valérie Vézina (Kwantlen Polytechnic)
Students, faculty, and members of the community are invited to join us for the visit of Dr. Tamara Small (University of Guelph) as part of the Department of Political Science's Speaker Series.
Dr. Vézina's talk is "Democratizing the Classroom". In this talk, Dr. Vézina will interactively discuss how to engage students in building thier own syllabus. From values and rules in the classroom, to topics covered in class and assignments, there are ways to involve students so that the syllabus is not just something that is thrown on their desks, but a living document, a 'contract' that they debate and agree on.
Dr. Vézina is a faculty member and chair of the Department of Political Science at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey, BC.
