Current Memorial University Students
Note for new Western Regional School of Nursing (WRSON) applicants: If you are choosing Grenfell campus on your application, you will not see nursing as an area of interest. You must first choose the St. John's campus. Then, on the following step of your application, you will select WRSON as your 1st choice campus. If you have any questions about this, please email nursingadmissions@mun.ca
Current Memorial University students can apply to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) (Collaborative) Program via their MUN self-service account. MUN transcripts are not required as they are already on file. The deadline to apply is January 20.
Priority for admission is given to applicants who are residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. However, out-of-province and international applicants are encouraged to apply. All applicants must meet the general admission requirements for Memorial University.
4-Year Option
Required High School Courses:
- Biology 2201 and 3201, or equivalents
- Chemistry 3202, or equivalent
- Math 3200 or 3201, or equivalent
If both Biology 2201 AND 3201, Math 3200 or 3201, and Chemistry 3202 have been successfully completed in high school, then biology, math, and chemistry courses do not have to be completed at Memorial University for admission into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) (Collaborative) Program. Additional course options are available by completing the non-nursing courses at Memorial University.
If only one of the required biology courses was completed in high school, for example, Biology 3201, applicants MUST complete both Biology 1001 AND Biology 1002 at Memorial University as the biology courses must be completed as a pair - either two in high school or two at Memorial University.
If grade 12 Chemistry was not completed in high school, then the following chemistry courses offered at Memorial University can be used to satisfy the chemistry admission requirement for Nursing: Chemistry 1010, 1050, 1051, 1200, 1810, or 1001.
If grade 12 Math was not completed in high school, three credit hours in math offered at Memorial University can be used to satisfy the math admission requirement for Nursing.
Admission Averages:
To be competitive for admission, applicants should have a 70% average or higher from one semester of the calendar year previous to the one they are seeking admission to, where a minimum of three courses were completed, OR as a cumulative average. The higher average of the two is then used for admission into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) (Collaborative) Program.
