Hats off to high-achieving faculty
Congratulations to our own Drs. April Manuel and Julia Lukewich!
These two School of Nursing (SON) faculty members have recently earned awards for their research prowess.
Dr. Manuel is recipient of an Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (ARNNL) Nursing Research Award in the ARNNL's 2017 Special Competition Education and Research Trust Awards.
The award recognizes her work, with colleague Dr. Julia Lukewich, on indicators for success in the NCLEX exam that all Bachelor of Nursing Students must write to practice as registered nurses in Canada.
Dr. Lukewich was also recently named recipient of the 2017 Doctoral Dissertation Award by the Council of Ontario University Programs in Nursing (COUPN). Her PhD research focused on the contributions that nurses make in the primary health care setting and found, for example, that primary care practices employing at least one registered nurse (RN) received better diabetic care than those without RNs.
Hats off to Drs. Manuel and Lukewich for their success, and for their contributions to the SON!
