Journal of Newfoundland and Labrador Studies

Newfoundland and Labrador Studies is a division of Memorial University of Newfoundland's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and is published by Memorial University Press.

Founded in 1985, Newfoundland and Labrador Studies is a bi-annual, interdisciplinary journal devoted to publishing original peer-reviewed essays, in either English or French, about the society and culture of Newfoundland and Labrador, past and present.

The journal aims to publish scholarly work from a wide range of disciplines, presented in such a way as to be of interest to a wide readership across the province and elsewhere.

In addition, the journal publishes original documents, expertly edited, introduced and annotated. Each issue also contains authoritative reviews (and occasionally review articles) on books, film, theatre, and art with a Newfoundland and/or Labrador content.

Open Access

Newfoundland and Labrador Studies is a diamond open access journal. All content is available without subscription as soon as it is published, enabling the public to freely engage with our many volumes depicting the unique nature of Newfoundland and Labrador across scholarly disciplines.
