New funding for research on aging in NL
About the Awards:
2019 ARC Graduate Fellowships
- ARC Master’s Fellowships (up to $18,000); ARC Doctoral Fellowships (up to $24,000)
- Awards may be held for up to 12 months upon acceptance of award
- Students who have already obtained Tri-Council funding may still receive partial funding
Who can apply for these fellowships?
- You MUST be a member of ARC
- Your supervisor must also be a member of ARC
- You must be pursuing a research-based master’s or doctoral degree at Memorial University
- Your research topic must be relevant to aging
- You must have, by September 2019, completed all course work and examinations required for your degree

2019 ARC Research Grants
- Up to five ARC Research Grants of up to $10,000 each will be awarded to support research on aging
- Awards may be held for up to 15 months upon acceptance of award
Who can apply for these grants?
The Principal Applicant for a Research Grant:
MUST be a member of ARC
Must be employed by a post-secondary academic institution or by a health or community services institution in Newfoundland & Labrador
Must have dedicated time for research
Must hold a Ph.D., a health professional degree, or the terminal degree in your field

Deadlines and Application Information
- A Letter of Intent (LOI) must be sent to ARC by March 15, 2019 (Research Grants only) Full applications must be submitted by April 19, 2019
- Awards will be announced mid-June, 2019

Come learn about the newly established Aging Research Centre (ARC) of Memorial University! Dr. Veronica Hutchings (ARC Director) and Dr. Benjamin Zendel (ARC Research Chair) will host an information session to discuss the ARC as well as the upcoming 2019 ARC Research Grants and 2019 ARC Graduate Fellowships programs. All are welcome.
