NLCAHR celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2024

Please join us as we celebrate our anniversary this year! Agenda for the NLCAHR 25th Anniversary Nov 21 24

NLCAHR is celebrating 25 years of research and engagement to improve health and healthcare in Newfoundland and Labrador. We are proud of our legacy: informing decisions with evidence, attuning that evidence to the local context, building capacity for research, and forging research collaborations and community partnerships.  We look forward to the future as we continue to strive for research excellence and meaningful public engagement. Importantly, this year is dedicated to honouring our lasting relationships with so many valued partners: health system, government and community workers, patients, caregivers, students, and academics, who work with us in a collective effort to transform health and healthcare in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Two key programs are central to this work:

Researchers in our Contextualized Health Research Synthesis Program, (CHRSP) locate, assess and report on evidence to answer priority research questions posed by health system leaders. Working in close collaboraiton with  our partners, CHRSP is providing decision support on priority issues that have been identified as essential to the sweeping transformation of health and healthcare now underway in our province.

A dynamic forum for public engagement, the Research and Knowledge Exchange Program brings together university researchers, healthcare workers, decision makers, community groups, and members of the public who share common interests in health-related topics.  The groups exchange research and practice knowledge, discuss community programs, talk about healthcare practices, and showcase the knowledge of lived and living experience with a view to improving lives, creating new research opportunities, developing innovative community programs, and promoting health literacy.

Recognizing that complex problems require the widest possible range of expertise centered on the solutions, the team at NLCAHR is proud of our history and confident about our future.  In 2024 and beyond, we pledge to continue building on 25 years of connecting people from diverse disciplines and backgrounds towards a common goal:  improving community well-being, health, and health services delivery for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
