Dr. Cecilia Moloney

Bio & WebsiteCecilia Moloney is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering with Memorial University. From 2004-2009 she held the NSERC/Petro-Canada Chair for Women in Science and Engineering, Atlantic Region (CWSEA), after which she started the MetaKettle Project at Memorial University as a legacy project of the CWSEA to develop and implement new and integrative methods for engineering and science education. Dr. Moloney’s research interests include nonlinear signal and image processing methods, signal representations, human visual perception, radar signal processing, transformative pedagogy for science and engineering, and gender and science studies. |
Dr. Cecile Badenhorst

Bio & WebsiteDr. Cecile Badenhorst is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at Memorial University. She has a BA (Honors) degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, an MA from UBC, Vancouver and a PhD from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada. After her PhD, Cecile worked in the rural areas of South Africa with Adult Basic Education non-governmental organizations. She then moved into adult education curriculum development. In 1998, she began working with mature students at the Graduate School of Public and Development Management at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. In 2005, her work extended to working with faculty across the university on research, writing and publishing. In 2011, she moved to Memorial University, Newfoundland, Canada. Her broad research interests are post-secondary and adult learning experiences with a particular interest in graduate and faculty research writing and academic literacies. She has published three books in this area: Research Writing (2007), Dissertation Writing (2008) and Productive Writing (2010). |
Dr. Janna Rosales

Bio & WebsiteJanna Rosales works at the crossroads of the sciences and humanities, where she explores the values, needs, and motivations that go into the decisions we make about technology. She currently teaches courses in professionalism, communication and ethics for the Faculty of Engineering, and conducts research on the links between leadership development, civic engagement, mindfulness, and diversity in engineering education. She has previously taught courses in technology and society for the Departments of Sociology and Religious Studies, and lectured with the Graduate Program in Humanities, and serves on a number of university committees committed to excellence in teaching and learning, public engagement, and diversity. |
Jonas Roberts |
Bio & WebsiteJonas completed a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and went on to pursue a Master of Engineering focusing on wind energy in harsh environments. He is currently wrapping up a PhD in Engineering investigating the impacts of climate change on hydrology in Labrador, for which he was awarded the NSERC Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarship. He was a member of the founding executive and past president of the Memorial University Chapter of Engineers Without Borders. He is a also a member of the City of St. John's Environmental Advisory Committee. Jonas lives downtown St. John's with his wife, baby boy and border collie. His hobbies include reading, hiking, gardening, politics and traveling. |
