Message from the Chair
Welcome to the Discipline of Radiology
The Discipline of Radiology Residency Program offers a comprehensive education for our postgraduate learners, offering training in all modalities and all subspecialties of Medical Imaging. Our residency program is centered in St. John’s with the majority of training at the Health Sciences Center, St. Clare’s and Janeway (pediatric and Women’s health) hospitals. We also provide community-based rotations at various sites within the province, including Corner Brook, where residents rotate through the state of art Western Memorial Hospital, opened in 2024. In addition, we offer extensive programming for our undergraduate learners through electives and research opportunities.
We have almost 60 full-time and part-time faculty across the province. Our faculty are committed to delivering excellence across the educational continuum, and to striving for efficient, evidence-based patient care. Our faculty are engaged and committed to providing a supportive and collegial learning environment. With a very low ratio of learners to staff, faculty are able to tailor their teaching to the level and needs of our learners.
Alongside their clinical duties, our faculty pursue a wide range of research, which has been recognized provincially, nationally, and internationally. This is accompanied by a robust research curriculum that involves our residents and medical students.
Our discipline is welcoming, respectful and inclusive, dedicated to putting the needs of our learners, patients and communities at the forefront of everything we do.
