Undergraduate

Undergraduate learners are frequently supervised by Faculty within the Discipline. Educational activities include clinical skills, OSCE’s (objective structured clinical examination) undergraduate teaching sessions in Phase II and III and academic half day sessions.

Learners are welcome to shadow Faculty under through the Faculty of Medicine Physician Shadowing program. This is an opportunity for undergraduate students to gain exposure to clinical medicine, particularly in Medical and Radiation Oncology.

The Discipline of Oncology offers a two-week selective in Medical Oncology as part of the twelve-week core Internal Medicine rotation. Phase IV students participate in oncology clinics, educational rounds, tumour boards and spend time on the inpatient service. Learners may wish to undertake an elective in Medical or Radiation Oncology during their undergraduate training.

Faculty within the Discipline can supervisor learners as they embark on research projects. There are research awards offered through Research and Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Medicine, that provide medical students with funding to participate in research within the Discipline during the summer months (Summer Undergraduate Research Awards – SURA).
