Elizabeth Faour
Medical Oncologist | Clinical Assistant Professor
Why did you choose oncology as a career?
The relationships — with both colleagues and patients. Oncology is an inherently multidisciplinary field, and I love the opportunity to collaborate as a team to help provide the best care for our patients. I also value the longitudinal nature of oncology care, where we have the privilege of following patients over time and building meaningful connections.
What are your academic interests?
My academic interests lie in geriatric oncology and lung cancer. I am currently working to initiate a frailty screening process at the cancer centre.
Any advice for learners interested in the field of Oncology?
Come and work with us! Oncology is one of the most fascinating fields from a scientific perspective and there are more ways to get involved than people may expect. I encourage any learner who is curious to seek out opportunities to shadow, ask questions, and see for yourself how wide-ranging the work really is.
How do you like to spend your free time outside of your medical career?
Outside of medicine, I enjoy staying active through running and hiking, hunting down a good meal, and reading. Most of all, I cherish time with my family and friends.
