Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology

Thriving Learners and Graduates grapgic for Laboratory Medicine

The Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology program is accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Responsibility and involvement in decision-making will increase throughout the five years of training as skills and knowledge are applied to clinical problems and professional skills are further developed. The program is under the management of a residency program director and has a Pathology Residency Committee on which there is elected resident representation.

The mission of the Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology resident training program at Memorial University is to produce respectful, competent specialists in Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology through Competence by Design (CBD). Our mission also includes a patient-centered approach to evidence-based practices, advocating for health across and within all communities and exposure to research. We encourage residents to develop scholarly interests, cultivate effective communication with all staff within the laboratory and throughout the hospital and/or community and deepen flexibility within the training program. Residents are able to partially individualize/tailor their training plans in order to meet their career goals.
