Discipline of Medicine
The Discipline of Medicine at Memorial University is the home for all of the internal medicine subspecialty physicians and training programs. Our Faculty members combine the roles of teachers, scientists and clinicians. We strive to provide the highest quality care to adults with complex medical issues from across Newfoundland and Labrador and train the next generation of skilled specialist physicians.
In addition to supporting the Undergraduate Medical Program, we currently offer accredited residency programs in Internal Medicine and in Neurology, and two-year clinical fellowship programs in Nephrology and General Internal Medicine. A third subspecialty training program in geriatric medicine is currently being developed.
Our Faculty are leaders in collaborative medical research and innovation and many are internationally renowned as experts in their field. Our Discipline’s research programs range from basic biomedical initiatives in areas such as endocrinology and metabolism, to population-health programs in genetics, health services delivery, clinical trials and patient-centered research.
