Dr. Robert Green Memorial Award for Compassion in Patient Care

Dr. Robert Green was known for his clinical teaching of residents throughout his career at the Health Sciences Centre. “Bob” as he liked to be called, was loved by all staff who worked with him, whether they be from medical staff, housekeeping or nursing. This award, in his memory, is for the Anesthesia Resident who demonstrates the most compassion in patient care.

Outstanding Scholar

This award is given to a Resident physician who has most closely modeled the role of Scholar by engaging in scholarly work that has been recognized for excellence; critically evaluating information and its sources and apply this appropriately to practice decisions; contributing to the creation, dissemination, application and translation of new medical knowledge and practices.

Outstanding Clinical Educator

This award is presented to a Resident Clinical Educator that has gone above and beyond the expected teaching requirements in the Discipline of Anesthesia.  This educator will have had a significant impact on medical students, other residents and members of the wider health care team.  Recognition of excellence in teaching will be through peer nomination, teaching evaluations and feedback.

Mentorship Award

This award is presented to a Resident who has provided leadership and mentoring to their fellow residents as well as medical students.  The recipient should display and model the professional components found in CanMEDS.  These include demonstrating a commitment to their patients, profession and society through ethical practice; demonstrating a commitment to their patients, profession and society through participation in profession-led regulation; and demonstrating a commitment to physician health and sustainable practice.
